About Marrow Detroit Provisions
We are building a small, efficient USDA inspected plant that produces high quality retail and foodservice protein products that our restaurants and butcher shops are known for. The Plant Supervisor is the on floor site leader and primary coach for a small production crew, responsible for safe, consistent, high quality output each day.

Role summary
The Plant Supervisor (Working Lead) is a hands on leader responsible for daily production in a very small team environment. You will plan and run production for a crew of three, hit daily volume and yield targets of up to roughly 1,500 lbs per day, train and mentor team members, and ensure quality, sanitation, and regulatory compliance on the floor. This role combines frontline production work with supervision, scheduling, coaching, and basic KPI tracking.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead daily production planning and execution to meet schedules, yield targets, and delivery commitments

  • Set up and run production lines, including cutting, grinding, portioning, packaging, and basic sanitation routines

  • Work side by side with the crew as a working supervisor while directing pace, quality, and safety

  • Train and mentor processing assistants in knife skills, equipment use, food safety practices, and documentation

  • Ensure strict adherence to USDA inspection requirements, plant SOPs, GMPs, and food safety programs at all times

  • Perform in process quality checks, verify label and claim accuracy, and document results per QA protocols

  • Maintain accurate production records, yield logs, and traceability documentation

  • Monitor equipment during operation, perform basic troubleshooting, and escalate maintenance issues promptly

  • Manage daily labor allocation and task assignments for a small crew

  • Track basic production KPIs such as yield, scrap, throughput, and labor efficiency; prepare simple daily shift reports

  • Support onboarding and skills training for new hires as the team grows

  • Identify and suggest small process improvements that reduce waste, improve throughput, and support a safe work environment

Required qualifications

  • 3 or more years of experience in meat processing or food manufacturing, with at least 1 year in a lead or supervisory role

  • Strong practical skills with knives, grinders, portioning equipment, and packaging machinery

  • Working knowledge of USDA inspection requirements and basic food safety principles

  • Proven ability to lead and coach a small, hands on production crew in a fast paced environment

  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to follow written procedures and complete documentation accurately

  • Ability to work in cold environments and lift 50 lbs regularly

  • Reliability, punctuality, and clear communication skills

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in a small plant startup or transition to federal inspection

  • Prior experience supervising or scheduling a small team

  • Basic facility and maintenance familiarity and ability to coordinate with service personnel when needed

  • Certifications such as HACCP, ServSafe, or supervisor level food safety training

  • Intermediate math skills for yield, portioning, and simple KPI calculations
